The Golden Ratio and the Perfect Suit

The name Golden Section Line is not decorative. It references the golden ratio  φ (phi), approximately 1.618 the mathematical proportion that appears throughout classical architecture, Renaissance painting, and the proportional systems of the best tailors.

In menswear, the golden ratio governs the relationship between jacket length and trouser rise, between shoulder width and chest circumference, between lapel width and tie width.
